Airport windows

Airports are filled with people rolling bags, catching flights, and landing in the arms of friends, lovers, and parents. Window views of orange and white cones; watching men in yellow vests move the plane to the white lines. Bags are unloaded and the cool wind hits your face as your feet finally touch the ground of a new destination to add to your travel list. Clouds move from left to right as the sun begins to come out and welcome you to Scotland and Ireland.

Anxiety touches every nerve of your body; excited and nervous you take steps leading up to the plane. Looking for your seat you make sure to not bump or push the passengers on your left and right. Pushing your carry-on on the overhead you make awkward eye contact with strangers eager to get to the destination you find yourself traveling to as well. Closing my eyes I hear the flight attendants call out "we are ready for take-off."

With my eyes shut tight I can feel the adrenaline coursing through my body, feeling the wheels leave the ground in the air surrounded by clouds, blue light, and silence. Side views of couples, parents, and children.

Traveling at the sound of pressure right outside the window hearing the motions of the aircraft floating against the clouds.

Airport journeys are full of unnecessary checks, angry staff, and people running. Outside the airport, you witness the stories of those who have traveled millions of miles to reach a person, place, or thing.

I have traveled a lot of places in my nineteen years of life, I have caught planes, trains, and boats. The adrenaline I still feel for each take-off is something indescribable. Witnessing school trips, family vacations, and surprise visits. Viewing the windows of an airport, filled with window views of the souls you are inevitably encountering.

Staring out the window of each airport window I still feel the adrenaline finding its way towards each nerve of my body. Remembering hands that I have held for every takeoff and landing. Pictured memories of aircraft traveling.
