Never-ending rushing
Rain trickles down: drops of cold water sprinkle throughout. Touching the city below: hitting the umbrellas and hoods of the city's crush.
The city that never sleeps - where people are constantly running, walking, or rushing. But, time seemed to move in their favor. As a plethora of people, yearned to get somewhere; their love appeared to be eternal.
Her legs were crossed, along with her arms. He had his hands in and out of his pockets but kept running his hand over her head shielding her from the droplets.
He watched her in awe with the unconditional love he held, just for her.
Watching her readjust her colorful Acne Studios scarf, which was nestled tightly around her neck, she adjusted it, and looked up before taking his hand and running down the subway steps.
He looked at her as if she was the only person in the world.
Beep click beep echoed underground as crowds of people scanned their subway passes and pushed through the turnstile. She waited for him to walk through as he unzipped his discolored Carhartt jacket.
The 6 train passed them by in the blink of an eye; her perfect bouncy hair ran past her face and found its way back to the side of her shoulders. She didn't pay much attention to her surroundings because she had him to ground her.
As they were swept up by crowds of individuals their eyes locked with strangers. For a moment, they each had a glimpse of another person's life. Swiftly hitting shoulder-to-shoulder with others heading out to a path of their own.
Finding a seat on the sides of the doors together, she pulled her baggy grey jeans up and sat down. The glare from her bright red shoes glistened and gleamed. She shook her foot with her legs crossed. Click click were the sounds her pointed ballet shoes made as the buckles of the shoes touched one another.
He kept his arm around her the entire four stops. As they made their way down to Broadway.
Amid the screeching of brakes, the subway car came to a halt. The doors swung open, they jumped up, but not without him reaching for her hand first.
Who knows where they were marching to, or what fancy dinner or takeout order they had in mind. The world to them: was put on pause. All the noises of chatter and ambition were put to hold as they carried on with their night; taking in one another. Putting on their noise-canceling headphones- but having enough awareness to see and hear only each other.
For a moment, life was full of bliss. Though the sun hadn’t shed light for days, they had no problem getting lost in one another
